Khao Hin Lek Fai

If you enjoy spectacular views, then a visit to Hin Lek Fai is a must while you are in Huahin. Khao Hin Lek Fai, sometimes called Flinstone Hill, is popular with tourists and locals. The park area is open from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm and admission is free. There are a few small shops to buy food and drink if you get hungry or thirsty during your time at Hin Lek Fai. Although when we visited, most of the shops were closed.

There are six viewpoints on the hill which make it possible to see panoramic views of the entire area. The best viewpoints are #4 & 5. Viewpoint #4 looks south and you can see the whole way to Khao Takiab. Viewpoint #5 looks to the north and the view includes Cha Am, Hua Hin's sister city.

The park at the top of the hill has a statue of King Rama VII. There is also some information about his life. There used to be an aviary with exotic birds. However, we recently visited Hin Lek Fai and the aviary is no longer in operation.

Many visitors to the hill come for a brisk walk or jog around the hill. Why not? The scenery is beautiful and the air is clean. The road to the top is very steep. It is not advisable to try to run up the road to the park. Make sure you know your limitations. You do not need a trip to the local hospital while on vacation in Hua Hin.

If you are not into exercise, Hin Lek Fai is also a great place to just relax. Bring a good book to read or just enjoy some quiet time away from the noise of the city. Weekends are always the busiest time on the hill, so go during the week if  you want to have some time alone.

Hin Lek Fai is located about two miles outside of town, so it is a bit far to walk. You can easily find transportation in town, either a tuk tuk or taxi, to take your family to the hill. Make sure to agree on a price before you go to Hin Lek Fai.
