Take the Bus to Hua Hin

Buses bound for Huahin leave from the Southern Bus Terminal in Thonburi. The first bus to Hua Hin leaves around 4:00 a.m. and then every 30 minutes throughout the day. Most taxi drivers know where the Southern Bus terminal is located. Just be aware that traffic into Thonburi, on the other side of the Chao Praya river, can be heavy at times. Especially in the morning and evening hours. Of course, there are few places in Bangkok without heavy traffic these days. Regular buses to Hua Hin will take about three hours to make the journey. It just depends on the flow of trafffic out of Bangkok.

First time visitors to Thailand will find it easier to book tickets for a bus to Hua Hin through the concierge at their hotel or through a travel agent in Bangkok. Although there may be a fee added to the cost of the ticket through your hotel or travel agent, the extra expense will be worth the time you save by not having to figure out which window to use to purchase tickets at the bus station.

If you choose to return to Bangkok by bus, simply book your ticket at the Hua Hin air conditioned bus terminal. This terminal is located on Sra Song Road. It can be a bit hard to find. Just ask around and most people will help direct you to the bus station. Just tell them you would like to travel to Bangkok. Remember, if it is your first time to Thailand, you can save yourself much hassle by booking your tickets through your hotel or a local travel agent.

Some advice when you take a bus to Hua Hin. Be prepared with some drink and snacks for your family before you board the bus to Hua Hin. Not all buses have on board toilets, so please have your children use the restroom before boarding the bus. I do not like to use a bus for transportation when I travel with my family. They are very confining and not a fun way to travel with small children. I recommend using a private taxi for transportation to Hua Hin.
